Permits & Licensing

The Permits & Licensing Department plays a key role in providing quality customer service. In addition to protecting the health, safety and public welfare of the community through regulation of construction in the city of Monahans, the department seeks to provide an efficient and effective permitting and inspections process that supports the city's growth and economic development.

Before starting any construction or home improvement task, take a few minutes of your time and contact the Permit Clerk or Building Inspector to verify if a permit is needed.  We will be happy to assist you in any way possible to ensure that your project is in compliance with applicable codes.  Building permits are required for any type of construction.  If you are changing, moving or repairing walls, ceilings, electrical, Air Conditioner/Heating Units or plumbing you will need a building, electrical, mechanical and/or plumbing permit.  All construction projects are inspected by our officials to make sure all buildings meet the current state and federal Building Codes and City Ordinances.  The Permit Clerk and Building Inspector can be reached at City Hall, (432) 943-4343.
